Legendary Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall was the guest of honor at a roast on Wednesday night.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Former Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall was honored with a roast on Wednesday night at the Red Mile clubhouse.

Several of coach Hall's former players, including Kyle Macy, Kenny "Sky" Walker, Jack "Goose" Givens, Jimmy Dan Conner and many others, were on hand to have a little fun at their old coach's expense.

Coach Hall said, "We just finished an election, and I feel like one of those candidates because there's going to be nothing but lies told about me tonight. And it usually takes me about three months to get over the depression from these roasts."

Macy, Hall's starting point guard on his 1978 national championship team, said that he has so much respect for what coach Hall did for him and so many others that he would take it easy on Hall during the roast.

The evening was also the 65th anniversary celebration of Lexington's WVLK radio station.

Joe Hall has more class in his little finger, than most people in their whole bodies. His contributions to Basketball can't be measured. Did you know? 1. He founded the Junior Pro Basketball Program, including the goal height and smaller basketball. 2. He was the first to hire a strength coach. 3. First to use a team dietitian, changing the pregame meal from steak, to Carbs. 4. First, to teach players, in speech, to do TV interviews and to meet with the Media. 5. First, to have a course, in manners, dress, and etiquette. 5. His style of big bodies, twin towers, and physical inside game changed college ball to this day.
