John Calipari says guards Ryan Harrow and Julius Mays may be unable to play in Kentucky's season opener against Maryland Friday night.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - When Kentucky opens its season against Maryland in Brooklyn's Barclay's Center Friday night, it could be without point Ryan Harrow and shooting guard Julius Mays.

John Calipari said on Thursday that Harrow is battling a flu-like illness.

Mays is trying to bounce back from what was believed to be a mild knee injury suffered in UK's exhibition win over Transylvania Monday night. Calipari did say on Thursday that there is no structural damage to Mays' knee.

Calipari said he would like to think the pair would be available to play Friday, but he was unsure.

If neither can go, Archie Goodwin and seldom-used Jarrod Polson would share duties at point guard against the Terrapins.

Calipari said he feels comfortable playing Polson.
