A grandmother who police said was found in Lexington with a reported missing toddler from California made her first court appearance in Lexington Wednesday afternoon.

Maria Baltierra-Dejesus, 62, plead not guilty to Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Custodial Interference.  She also waived her right to extradition.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Baltierra-Dejesus will fight extradition back to California.

UK Police said they found Dejesus near the Joe Craft Center last Thursday with 17-month-old Alouette Day-Moreno-Baltierra. Police said the child was not dressed for the cold weather.

Police said Alouette Day-Moreno-Baltierra had been missing from Los Angeles since October. She is currently in state protective custody.
