State Police say a group called the Bardstown Money Gang may have something to do with Officer Jason Ellis' Murder.

Bardstown Police say Ellis arrested the group's suspected leader this winter, and the Bardstown Police chief believes Jason Ellis' murder was personal.

"6th sense of a cop, your gut feeling, you know, that he was the target," said Rick McCubbin, Bardstown Police Chief.

Police say the Bardstown Money Gang consists of people in their late teens and early 20's.  Police believe they may be involved in about half a dozen attacks including the beating of an old man, and an armed robbery.

State Police say they checked on the group Tuesday, but would not say more.

Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin knows one characteristic investigators should look for.

"A coward," said McCubbin.

But he says it's a dangerous coward.

"If it was that easy for them what else will they do?

State Police say the Bardstown Money Gang lead came from a tip.  KSP says it is checking on every tip, and will follow the investigation wherever it leads.
