The Knight-Taylor-Hockensmith House dates back to before the Civil War.

Now the home owner Edmond Thompson is trying to get the home registered as a historic landmark.

Thompson says he goes before a board to get approval on the status Thursday.

He says either way he wants to renovate the home to how it looked more than 100 years ago, but says if it's made a historic landmark, he can receive significant tax credits towards the project.

Thompson says he hopes to have the renovations completed by the summer of 2014.
