Update: Cause of Death in Fatal Fire Released

The son of the victims says his niece is being accused of starting the fire that killed her grandparents in Lincoln County.
UPDATE 11/22/13: 

Kentucky State Police say Everett Garland and Linda Garland died of smoke inhalation.

Their niece is being held at the Adair County Juvenile Detention Center.

ORIGINAL STORY 11/21/13:

The son of a couple that died in a house fire Wednesday night, says his niece is being accused of starting the fire and killing her grandparents.

Russell Garland was the son of the Garlands and lived down the road.

He says that police are telling the family that the teen being charged is his niece that lived with the victims.

State Police would not confirm the relation of the suspect to the victims.


The Lincoln County Coroner identified the victims as Everett Garland, 64 years old, and Linda Garland, 60 years old of Eubank.

State Police later said they had arrested a teenager, charging them with two counts of murder and one county of first degree arson.

Police do not release the names of juveniles being charged with crimes.
