A Danville couple has pleaded not guilty to charges that a woman and children were found living in filth in a house.

Samuel and Beverly Kindred are due back in court next week.

Police say it all began with a welfare check on Beverly's 67-year old mother.

Officers say they went to the home on Old Shakertown Road and found animal feces on the floor, bugs, overflowing trash and dirty dishes piled high.

Beverly Kindred is facing a felony abuse charge.

Samuel Kindred is charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
