One couple celebrated more than the birth of a nation today.
Lacy Proctor and Travis Wise were married in downtown Lexington today and featured in the Fourth of July parade after winning a wedding worth over $25,000.
The Grand Reserve asked people via Facebook why they deserved the wedding of their dreams, prompting more than 50 responses within ten days.
The couple won because they said Lacy had to quit her job to stay home with their daughter who was diagnosed with leukemia and Travis had to carry all of the financial burdens for the family.
They said they even had to postpone their original ceremony so they could take care of their daughter.
The ceremony was supposed to take place during the parade, but had to be moved inside because of the rain.
The company hopes to make the contest an annual event.
