Corbin city police and fire departments are cancelling city fireworks during the July fourth weekend, and banning the use of private fireworks.
Officials say the extremely dry conditions forced the move. Corbin police say they will respond to fireworks complaints, and ask citizens to stop using personal fireworks.
Police say officers will take action up to writing citations and confiscating the fireworks themselves. Any fireworks confiscated will be returned to the owners after the burning ban has been lifted.
