'Angel Tree' Program Struggles - Donation Deadline Extended

621 children's names were not selected for this year's 'Angel Tree' program. The Salvation Army in Lexington said that is the most they've ever had after the donation deadline.
The Lexington Salvation Army said its 'Angel Tree' campaign came up short this year.
Donations were due Sunday.

The Salvation Army said the campaign ended with 621 children remaining, which is the most they've ever had.

Nearly 400 of the 621 children remaining were boys.

Because of the deficit, the deadline to donate toys and money was extended 2 more days, to Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

Donations are being accepted at the Christmas Center on South Broadway or The Salvation Army on West Main Street in Lexington.

In the meantime, The Salvation Army used remaining money to purchase as many toys are possible for the remaining children who had not been selected.
