Around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff deputies responded to the Louden Road area after a woman was attacked by a Pitbull dog.
The 61-year-old victim said she was going for a walk when the dog attacked her. She was seriously injured and transported to Baptist Health in Corbin, Ky.
Deputies say the dog acted aggressively toward them upon their arrival, but no force was used against it. Whitley Co. Animal Control took custody of the dog, and it will be quarantined for a 10-day period.
Deputies said they cited the dog's owner, per Kentucky law for harboring a viscous animal.
