Megan Newquist is the weekday co-anchor of Action News 36 @ 5, Action News 36 @ 6 and Action News 36 11@11. She
shares the anchor desk with Don Hudson, Meteorologist Jon James and Sports Director Kent Spencer. Megan also heads
the investigative unit that tracks crime with WTVQ's exclusive Crime Tracker reports.
Megan came to Kentucky to join the Action News 36 team several years ago. Since joining the team, Action News 36 @ 5
has received an Emmy nomination for "best newscast".
Originally from the west coast area, Megan came to Lexington to become a key anchor and reporter for Action News 36.
Megan is very pleased to now call the Bluegrass area home.
Megan volunteers weekly at Shriner's Hospital for Children. She also speaks frequently to community groups and at
public events across the Central Kentucky area. Megan is very involved in the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has
co-hosted the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for several years.
Prior to Megan's experience in Central Kentucky, she had been involved in several types of breaking new stories,
including flying to the top of snow-capped Mount Shasta with the Army National Guard to rescue a downed Black Hawk
Helicopter. She has also been on the front lines in the War on Drugs and has covered some of our country's most
devastating wildfires.
She lives in Lexington and enjoys hiking and mountain biking at the Red River Gorge, and spending time at Veteran's
Park with her family and dogs.
