Don Hudson anchors all four of the evening newscasts on WTVQ 36 - Action News 36 @ Five, Five Thirty, Six and Action News 36 Eleven @ Eleven.
While Don is an Emmy nominated anchor and part of the news team that won both Regional and National Edward R. Murrow Awards for spot news coverage, he doesn’t spend all of his time behind the desk. Since arriving in Lexington, in October of 2003, he has done countless stories out in the communities of the bluegrass. In fact, Don is an Emmy award winning reporter. One award came after Don put together a half hour special about illegal immigration here in Kentucky, which included traveling to the U.S. – Mexico border to show how illegal immigrants get into the country. Don has shared stories about vote buying in Eastern Kentucky, puppy mills in northern Kentucky and Kentucky National Guard soldiers training for out in Western Kentucky.
Before coming to Lexington, Don worked in Texas, Nevada, Idaho, Nebraska, and most recently Washington, D.C. While in Washington, Don co-anchored ‘Good Morning Washington’ on the ABC affiliate and he covered the September 11th terrorist attack on the Pentagon and the deadly sniper shootings in the area.
While he enjoys gathering news and informing the community, Don’s favorite part of the news business is the opportunity to meet new people.
On the personal side, Don is married and the father of three boys, ages 12, 15 and 18.
He is very active in his community and church. He also spends a lot of time at his kid's basketball, baseball and football games. When he has free time he enjoys playing basketball and embarrassing himself out on the local golf courses.
