Disability insurance may be included in your benefit plan from your employer or union. You shouldn't ever turn down disability insurance. Group benefits can offer short term or long term disability benefits. These group disability policies won't cover you once you leave the company who's insurance you're using, so individual coverage can be helpful. Group coverage can also be inadequate and include long waiting periods for benefit return. Individual or supplemental policies can help you get the income you need in case of a disability. Consult an insurance agent in your area for more information about disability insurance.
