Friday, April 13, 2012: Recovering From The Chill... Warming Nicely This Weekend

Good Friday morning, everybody!  We have ALMOST made it to the weekend... and the next few days will be much warmer than our recent cold spell.

While this morning's lows were not as cold as the past few nights, we were still a good 12° below normal in Lexington, even colder in some rural valleys.  Lexington briefly fell to 32°, but some other areas dipped into the upper 20s for a few hours.

Here are the four coldest locations from the area, this morning.

Now, the Frost Advisories have expired, and we're going to return to near-normal April weather this afternoon, with highs near 65°.  Sunshine will mix with a few clouds late.

-

As mentioned yesterday, there may be just a few sprinkles or isolated showers late this evening and into tomorrow, primarily to the north of I-64.  These will not be a big deal.  Temperatures will be much more pleasant, though, as we bottom out in the upper 40s tonight, and climb into the middle 70s on Saturday.  Sunday's highs will flirt with 80° in many areas!

I'll close with three stunning photos, shared by David Francis through our ABC 36 Facebook page.  http://www.facebook.com/ABC36

Thanks, David!  Great work!

This weekend will be pleasant in the Bluegrass, but it will be an entirely different story out in Tornado Alley.  Keep the folks out that way in your thoughts and prayers, as multiple rounds of severe weather will occur in parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, north Texas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa this weekend.  The worst of it will likely be in the Central Plains on Saturday evening.
