Thursday, May 10, 2012: The Big "H" is Here...

Good Thursday morning, folks!  We have entered a spectacular stretch of weather, and this will continue through the rest of the workweek.  High pressure has settled overhead, and temperatures have cooled down to the levels we might expect in mid to late April.

Here is a look at how our mid-morning temperatures compared to normal this morning.  You'll notice that the low to mid 40s were a good bit below average for May 10th, an hour or two after sunrise.

We're not alone with this cool air.  Much of the eastern 2/3rds of the nation is at or a bit below normal right now.

Today, we'll warm up to 67°, which is 6° shy of our average high for May 10th.  Tonight will be another chilly one with lows down to 44° in town.  Some isolated valleys may dip into the upper 30s, but we do not anticipate frost.  The plants should be fine.

With high pressure almost directly overhead on Friday morning, we'll have another great day as the workweek ends.  Highs will climb closer to average on Friday, but we'll still end up slightly below normal.

Enjoy the beautiful weather!  Things will become more active by Mother's Day as scattered thunderstorms return for the second half of the weekend.
