Monday, January 16, 2012: Snow Photos From This Past Weekend

Good Monday morning, folks!  Well, we've finally seen a little bit of snow across the area, in two episodes over the past four days.  The first disturbance arrived on Thursday night into Friday, and it produced 0.3" of snow in Lexington at the Blue Grass Airport, and 0.8" in Jackson.  The second one arrived on Saturday, with snow showers in eastern Kentucky lingering into the wee hours of Sunday morning.  This one produced 0.8" in Lexington and 2.4" in Jackson.  This takes our winter total to 1.1" in Lexington and 4.2" in Jackson.

We've received some decent snow photos this past weekend, and here are a few.  We'll kick things off at one of Kentucky's best kept secrets: Wood Creek Lake.  Debra Harkleroad sent these photos our way after snapping them on Sunday.

Thanks so much, Debra!

Now we'll travel just a little farther south, deeper into Laurel County.  Jonathan Durham sent these photos after taking them on Saturday evening.

Thanks, Jonathan!

For the first time since Thursday, temperatures have risen above freezing!  We'll continue to climb into the upper 40s today (some areas near 50), and spotty showers during the day will give way to a more widespread, soaking rain this evening and tonight.  Click on the weather tab for our complete forecast.

Have a great Monday, and enjoy the warm-up!  After about two mild days, the cold air will return for Tuesday night and Wednesday.
