The nation's first HIGH RISK for severe weather since May 25 of last year includes central and most of eastern Kentucky.

A PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 PM across central and much of eastern Kentucky, and numerous confirmed tornadoes have been leaving paths of damage across parts of southern Indiana and western Kentucky.

Take a look at the picture... this is the way things looked around 3:45 this afternoon. There's an amazing number of tornado warnings in effect, many have been verified by eyes on the ground.

There is a spectacular amount of shear in the atmosphere, and the atmosphere is very unstable right now. Temperatures have soared into the lower 70s.

Sorry we couldn't get into more details on the blog today... just a general overview. We'll have to hit the parameters we look at (helicity, shear, CAPE, etc.) in another post at another time. There's just too much going on, and our on-air product is our priority.
