Frost Advisories Tonight, Still Early For Planting

Frost Advisories Tonight, Still Early For Planting

Yes, it has been warm lately, but we are not done with temperatures in the 30s. Frost advisories are in effect tonight for most of the area.
Monday, March 26, 2012: Frost Advisories Tonight, Too Early To Plant...

Good Monday morning, everybody.  I hope you've had a great weekend, and got to catch the Cats games.  The are looking great - and it's going to be an interesting week here in the Bluegrass as we ramp up to the showdown against Louisville in New Orleans!

Yes, it has been warm, but that doesn't mean that we're done with the frost!  In fact, take a look at this map.  In the typical year, our final low temperature of 32° doesn't occur until mid April.

-

Today's average low is 39°.  Our forecast of 37° isn't that far below average.

-

Some valley locations, especially to the north and east of Lexington, will deal with frost tonight.  The Frost Advisory runs from Henry County to Woodford County to Laurel County to Bell County, and across all areas north and east of that line, from 2 AM to 10 AM, late tonight and into Tuesday morning.

-

-

Despite a cold Tuesday morning, the daytime weather will be very pleasant, with a high near 63° today and 70° on Tuesday afternoon.

-

Enjoy this nice stretch, and bring those plants in (or cover them), if you've started early at your place.
