Wednesday, February 29, 2012: Severe Weather Crosses the Area on Leap Day

Good Wednesday morning, folks.  We have a busy one on our hands here in the weather center today.  A tornado has been spotted by multiple people on the ground (including one report from the Kentucky State Police), and there is significant damage - at least according to preliminary reports - on the east side of Elizabethtown.

Here is a 10:40 AM update on severe watches and warnings.

-

With the cold front to our west still, additional redevelopment of strong to severe thunderstorms is likely through midday in the Bluegrass Region, and deep into the afternoon in southeastern Kentucky.

-

-

Thursday will be quieter, but another round of strong to severe thunderstorms is likely on Friday.

-

-

Keep it tuned to ABC 36 for updates on the entire situation.  We will continue with our cut-ins through the noon show, as necessary.
