Cold Rain and Snow Expected

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Bell, Leslie, Perry, Knott, Floyd, Johnson and Martin counties in southeast Kentucky. A rain snow mix this evening will transition to alls now with light accumulations in the valleys and snow totals on hill tops around 2"-4".
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 8 A.M. Wednesday for Letcher, Bell, and Harlan counties along the Virginia border. Light snowfall totals will be possible in lower elevations with 6"-10" above 2,000 feet.

Steady rain in eastern Kentucky will spread into central Kentucky during the overnight. As temperatures bottom out in the mid 30s across the Bluegrass, some wet snowflakes will be possible into Tuesday morning. No accumulation is expected. In eastern Kentucky, an accumulation of heavy wet snow will be possible, especially on elevated and grassy surfaces. Snow will likely cause travel concerns beginning Tuesday morning in southeastern Kentucky.

The winds will also continue strong through the overnight. In the Bluegrass wind gusts will remain around 20 to 30 mph. In eastern Kentucky, the winds will gust between 30 and 40 mph, with hill top gusts around 45 mph, possible.
