Wintry Mix Arrives Friday

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is on the way for Kentucky and will arrive Friday morning.
Update: As we approach midnight, temperatures are just above 20° and will fall into the upper teens by morning. It still looks like the worst of the snow, sleet, and freezing rain will hold off until after the morning commute. It might be a good idea to pack a lunch Friday to avoid the slick roads during the middle of the day. Stay safe!

Meteorologist Michael Estime will be tracking the snow on Live Vipir HD as it heads our way starting at 5 a.m. on Good Morning Kentucky.

We will stay dry tonight with increasing clouds and a morning low near 19°.

Late Friday morning, our wintry mix will move into the region. Areas along and generally north of Interstate 64 will see mainly a snow event, while areas slightly south including Danville and Irvine will see more sleet mix in with the snow. Southern and eastern Kentucky have the best chance of seeing freezing rain at times. No matter where you live, dangerous travel conditions will be possible from Friday morning through Friday night. Snow totals will be generally 1 to 2 inches in most places although eastern Kentucky could see slightly more. Afternoon highs will be in the low and mid 30s.
