Light rain, sleet & light snow are in the forecast for this afternoon/evening. A few areas could pick up 1" - 2" of a slushy accumulation. The most favored areas for will be south of I-64 & east of I-75, though back towards Danville in Boyle County, we could also see a slushy accumulation. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 5pm tonight through 5am Wednesday morning because of the wintery weather.
Join Chief Meteorlogist Jennifer Schack tonight at 5pm, 6pm, & 11pm for more on tonight's winter weather set up.
Break out the thick winter coats this morning. When you factor in the winds with the actual temperatures, the numbers feel like we're in the teens. Further towards are southern counties, we're already seeing a light wintry mix moving from the southeast toward the northwest into the Blue Grass. Look for the wintry mix to move in to the Blue Grass by mid to late afternoon & early evening. By the time everything is said and done, we could see some slush on the roadways first thing Wednesday morning. Highs today should top out in the mid to upper 30s with overnight lows in the mid to upper 20s. Ice could also be a concern as you're hitting the roadways on Wednesday morning. Given that we have a threat for winter weather in the Blue Grass and parts of the Common Wealth, the NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 5pm this evening through 5am Wednesday morning.
