Afternoon Update:

Temperatures are going to be very slow to rise through this afternoon.  Do not expect much in the way of thawing of the ice from the trees and grassy areas today.  Temps should only peak in the mid 30s today with overnight low tumbling into the mid and upper 20s.  A re-freezing may occur overnight and into tomorrow morning, with another wintry mix possible by early Thursday morning in our extreme southeastern counties.

Join Chief Meteorologist Jennifer Schack tonight at 5pm, 6pm & 11pm for more on your forecast.

Be extra careful on the roadways this morning.  We're tracking many areas of ice on bridges and overpasses in central KY.  With temperatures hovering around freezing and precipitation still in the air, a light freezing fog and rain does still exist in our forecast through this morning, mainly in eastern KY.  You'll need your heavy duty scrapers to get the ice off your car's windshields.

By lunch time, we're forecasting temperatures around the freezing mark with the shield of wintry mix precipitation moving generally towards our southeastern counties.  We'll be cold with clouds all day with highs only in the mid 30s.  We could see additional icing on the roads, mainly in the mountains of eastern KY through late morning and early afternoon.

Overnight tonight, temps will dive below freezing in to the mid 20s.  Re-freezing of standing water could create ice and additional slick spots by first thing Thursday morning.
