Afternoon Update:

Temperatures this afternoon are nice and mild in the mid 60s with a sun and cloud mix.  During the overnight hours, heavy showers and strong storms are forecast to move in mainly between 6am - 9am Wednesday.  If you have a NOAA Weather Radio, tonight would be a great night to keep those ON.

Join Meteorologist Mark Stitz tonight at 5pm, 6pm & 11pm for more updates on our chance for strong and severe storms.

Get ready for near record setting heat today with temps closing in on 70°.  Our previous high was 68° set back in 1876.  Enjoy the warmth today because a big cool down is in store by week's end.

We are calling for mostly cloudy skies today with a few isolated showers possible.  We're aiming for 67° for a high with overnight low falling into the mid 50s.

**Early Wednesday morning** We're forecasting a line of heavy showers and powerful thunderstorms to roar into central KY with damaging winds possible.  At this point, it looks like the heaviest storms should move into western central KY by about 6am, plow through the Blue Grass between 7am-9am, before racing into eastern KY by the 9am-10am hour.  Tomorrow evening looks good, but after that cold front moves through look for a big temperatures tumble by your Friday.

Join me LIVE on ABC 36 for more on your forecast.

It's still plenty warm this morning with near 70 heat by this afternoon! More at 5am on @ABC36Lexington #GMK!
