After several days of cooler-than-average weather, we'll be much more seasonable today as highs climb into the lower 70s. It will be breezy, with winds from the south at 10-15 mph. This morning's showers will continue to exit the coalfields and mountains of southeastern Kentucky, pushing into western Virginia, and most places will be dry from mid-morning through mid to late afternoon. Only an isolated shower or thunderstorm is expected before evening. A new, stronger disturbance will arrive late this evening and into the overnight hours, and this will produce a round of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms tonight. Hail and wind are the primary concerns. Very unsettled weather will continue through the weekend and even into early next week as a front remains stalled across Kentucky. Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered, at least in some part of central and eastern Kentucky, each day through the seven-day forecast. Temperatures will range from the lower 60s to the middle 70s for highs, which is near normal for late April.
