Warm, Bright North... Cloudy, Cool, Damp South

It's another north-south split, with warm, bright weather in the northern part of the area, and a few cooler showers & t-storms to the south.
Today will bring another sharp contrast in temperature across the area, at least during the day.  Central and northern parts of the area will be much brighter and warmer than southern Kentucky.  Highs will be near 89° in Lexington, with lower 90s to the north and west, but lower to middle 80s common across southern and southeastern Kentucky.  A few showers and spotty thunderstorms will be likely in southern Kentucky, with most areas farther north staying dry today.  Lows will be more uniform, with middle 60s tonight.  An area of low pressure will slide northeast along the stationary front in Tennessee, pushing moisture north, across the entire area for Thursday and Friday, into the weekend.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will provide a good bit of drought relief across the entire area from Thursday through Sunday.  Spotty showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast early next week, although they'll cover less ground as clouds slowly depart.  Highs will be in the lower 80s during the end of the week, and then we'll recover into the more seasonable middle and eventually upper 80s early next week.  Highs may peak near 90° on Tuesday of next week.
