Sunday: Warmer Afternoon After Freezing Morning

The snow has come to an end for now, but much colder air will build in Saturday night and Sunday morning. Even after a cold start to the day, we will have a warmer and windy Sunday afternoon.
Midnight Update: Skies have begun to clear across Kentucky, but expect our clouds to return through the day Sunday.

Temperatures are quickly falling and have already reached the teens along Interstate 64, including Lexington where Blue Grass Airport is reporting 15°. It still looks like we will fall into the single digits by Sunday morning which could easily create some black ice.

Forecast: The snow has come to an end across Kentucky. Lexington picked up 4 inches of snow at Blue Grass Airport, bringing the season's total to 10.5 inches. Skies are now clearing from from the northwest to the southeast with colder air moving in. By morning temperatures will fall into the single digits, which could turn wet roads into icy roads.

After that cold start to our Sunday, strong southerly winds will help bring in some warmer air, with highs climbing to near 40° in Lexington. Southern Kentucky will be even warmer. Expect more clouds as we continue through the day after some morning sunshine.

We could see a few raindrops late Sunday night which will turn into snow by Monday morning. At this time, it doesn't look like we'll see anything more than a dusting.

The main threat on Monday will be the arctic-cold air arriving, which will drop temperatures through the afternoon. By Tuesday morning, temperatures will fall below 0.
