Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Overnight

Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Overnight

An approaching cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Commonwealth late Friday overnight into Saturday morning.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 3 a.m. Saturday for Harrison, Scott, Fayette, Woodford, Franklin, Anderson, Mercer, Boyle, Casey, Russell, Lincoln, Jessamine, Garrard, Madison, Bourbon, Clark, and Nicholas Counties.

This evening, clouds will be on the increase with the approach of a strong cold front.
Scattered showers and strong to severe thunderstorms will accompany this front.
The arrival of this line of showers and storms will move into our northwest counties (Owen, Franklin, & Anderson) around midnight.
It will slide southeast across central Kentucky, including Lexington, between 2am - 4am, before pushing into our southeast counties between 4am - 8am.
The main concern with this line of storms will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and dangerous lightning.

A few showers may linger into the afternoon Saturday, especially in southeast Kentucky.
The UK vs. Kent State game tomorrow afternoon/evening should shape up nicely with noticeably cooler temps in the upper 70s.

The below average temperatures and dry conditions will hang around for most of the work week.
