Under mostly cloudy skies, some light rain showers and sprinkles will cross the area today as low pressure passes to our south, and a weak trough clips our northern counties late in the day. Highs will be a shade below normal for mid-May, peaking near 70 degrees. Tonight will be chillier with gradual clearing and lows around 44 degrees. High pressure will return for Thursday and Friday, providing more sunshine than clouds as temperatures remain a bit below normal. Scattered thunderstorms will return to the forecast, beginning Saturday evening, and becoming more widespread on Mother's Day and especially early next week.
