Happy New Year!!

Temperatures will be fairly seasonable this afternoon. Most areas will make it into the mid 40s with partly cloudy skies.

Late tonight into early Thursday morning, a wintry mix of rain and snow will begin to push into central Kentucky. The precipitation will continue to spread into southern and eastern Kentucky later in the morning. Temperatures will start the day in the mid 30s, but start to drop in the afternoon. Most areas will see some rain before transitioning to snow by the afternoon as temperatures fall. Snow will then continue at times into the late afternoon.

By the time the snow exits Kentucky, accumulations between a dusting and 1 inch will be possible for Lexington and central Kentucky. Southern Kentucky will likely be between a dusting and half an inch, with eastern Kentucky seeing up to 2 inches, or slightly more in the higher terrain.

We'll be mostly sunny and dry Friday... but also cold. We could start the day in the teens with afternoon highs in the low 20s.
