Rain Will Arrive Late, 1" to 2" In Next 48 Hours

Clouds will thicken today, and rain will arrive this evening and into the overnight hours. Soaking rain will continue tomorrow.
Clouds will thicken today as low pressure approaches from Texas.  Scattered showers will overspread the area from southwest to northeast across the area later this afternoon, and soaking rain will increase in coverage tonight and through the day tomorrow.  Temperatures will remain above freezing, peaking around 44 today and only falling to 39 overnight tonight.  The heaviest rain will likely fall to the north and west of Lexington on Thursday, although 1" to 2" of rain is still possible, if not likely, region-wide.  Colder air will arrive as the system departs on Friday morning, and only a few snow showers may mix with the final rain showers in far eastern Kentucky.  The weekend will be colder, especially on Sunday.  A pair of very weak disturbances may be just enough to produce some scattered snow flurries.  Monday will be dry and chilly as high pressure crosses the area.  On Tuesday, there may be a brief, light wintry mix before rain overspreads the area with milder air.
