After a cold start to the day, temperatures will rise into the upper 40s this afternoon.  Sunshine will mix with just a few high clouds as a storm system passes on the other side of the Appalachians.  Tonight, a few spotty sprinkles may occur in southeastern Kentucky, but most places will remain dry.  A few showers will cross the northern half of the area on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as a warm front lifts across the Ohio Valley.  Milder air will arrive through midweek, boosting temperatures into the lower 50s on Tuesday and upper 50s for Wednesday and Thursday.  Widespread rain will accompany a cold front on Thursday, and a few showers may linger in southern Kentucky on Friday into Saturday, but most places will transition back to drier and cooler weather for the end of the week and into the weekend.
