Rain will mix with and change to snow today in southern and eastern Kentucky as low pressure passes southeast of Lexington. While the rain and snow mix will be extremely light in the Bluegrass Region, a light accumulation of snow will occur late today in many parts of southeastern Kentucky. 2" to 4" of snow will be likely in the higher elevations near the Virginia State Line, and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Bell, Harlan, Letcher and Pike Counties. Behind this system, sunshine will return, mixed with only a few high clouds on Thursday. A weak cold front may spark a sprinkle or flurry on Friday, before an even colder weather pattern sets up for the weekend. Saturday through Monday will feature cold nights and chilly days, with more sunshine than clouds. The next disturbance will spark some scattered rain showers on Tuesday, with temperatures near normal for mid-December.
