A few clusters of thunderstorms are sliding east and southeast across the region, while many other areas stay dry this afternoon. Apart from the showers and thunderstorms, temperatures will peak near 90° today, 92° on Tuesday and 93° on Wednesday. Each day will feature some scattered, mainly afternoon thunderstorms, but not every area is guaranteed rain each day, as there will be gaps between the thunderstorms. The heat index will peak in the middle 90s today, and upper 90s during the hottest part of Tuesday and Wednesday. A cold front will bring an enhanced period of thunderstorms late Wednesday and on Thursday, followed by a cooldown that will leave highs in the middle to upper 80s for the second half of the week. By Saturday, most of central Kentucky should return to dry weather with only a stray thunderstorm or two in southeastern Kentucky. Heat and humidity will return on Sunday with isolated thunderstorms and highs near 90°.
