Final Round of Showers in 2011, Friday

Final Round of Showers in 2011, Friday

The final round of wet weather in the record wettest year will occur on Friday before a dry Saturday. 2012 will begin COLD!
Clouds are thickening, and breezes will remain active from the southwest, so temperatures will only fall into the upper 30s overnight.  The wind will continue to supply the area with mild weather through the first half of Friday, so readings should peak in the middle 50s on the second-to-last-day of 2011.  A cold front will arrive on Friday around midday into the afternoon, sparking some spotty, light rain showers.  2011 will end with fairly mild air as readings peak near 51 under partly sunny skies on New Year's Eve.  Quiet, dry weather will continue as the ball drops and 2012 begins, but a much stronger cold front will arrive on New Year's Day.  Look for rain showers to accompany the front, and then temperatures will tumble, causing the light rain to mix with and change to some snow showers and flurries that will linger into Monday.  Cold and dry weather will prevail from Tuesday through Thursday of next week.  Tuesday will be the coldest day in the stretch, with readings starting in the teens and only warming up to near 30 degrees during the mildest part of the afternoon.
