Extended Stretch of 70s Begins

A large ridge of high pressure will build into the central and eastern US, bringing a prolonged stretch of unusual March warmth.
Each of the next 7-10 days will feature highs in the 70s.  The spectacular spring preview will begin dry for most of the area today, although an isolated rain shower or two may occur in far eastern Kentucky.  The entire area will be dry on Wednesday as we get even warmer.  After highs around 74 today, we will soar to near 77 on Wednesday (records on both days are 81).  A series of weak disturbances will arrive late this week and through the weekend, and with warm, humid air in place, scattered thunderstorms will develop on most afternoons, from Thursday through the weekend.
