Colder End to the Week

Colder End to the Week

The rain is ending this evening behind a cold front that arrived today. And now colder temperatures are expected to end the work week.

The steady rain has pushed east and now only showers will linger for the evening. Behind today's cold front, north winds will persist tonight and temperatuers are expected to drop to below freezing for many locations. In southeast Kentucky a few wet snowflakes will be possible with any lingering overnight showers. Behind the system on Thursday, we'll bring back the sunshine, but with breezy northwest winds temperatures will only climb into the mid 40s. High pressure will ensure plenty of sunshine late Thursday as well as Friday. Friday high temperatures are expected in the low 50s.

Tonight:  Any evening shower for the Bluegrass will exit for the overnight, but a few showers may persist in eastern Kentucky. As temperatures drop a few wet snowflakes will be possible within any showers, mainly in southeast Kentucky.   Winds: N 10-15 mph.  Low: 31.

Thursday:  After a cold start temperatures will struggle to recover in the afternoon. After a few morning clouds, plenty of afternoon sunshine is expected, but chilly northwest winds will keep temperatures in the mid 40s.  Winds: NW/W 10-18 mph.  High: 45.

Thursday Night:  Under mainly clear skies, temperatures will fall into the middle 20s, potentially falling to our lowest so far this fall.  Widespread frost is very likely.  Winds: SE 5-10 mph.  Low: 25.

Friday:  Skies will feature plenty of sunshine and only a few thin clouds.  While we won't quite make it back to average, it will be milder than on Thursday thanks to an increasing breeze from the south.  Winds: S 8-15 mph.  High: 52.
