We will round out the heat wave today with highs near 90° under partly sunny skies. Only an isolated thunderstorm will be possible, so most areas will stay dry today. Isolated thunderstorms will weaken shortly after dark, but late at night, and toward dawn, thunderstorms will become possible again as a cold front approaches from the west. After a low of 71°, scattered thunderstorms will cross the region on Tuesday with temperatures near 87°. More seasonable air will return for Wednesday as highs return to the lower 80s, and only a stray shower or t-storm will occur in eastern Kentucky. The week's second good chance for thunderstorms will occur late on Thursday and on Friday as a more organized low pressure system crosses the region. Behind that, temperatures will be a bit below normal next weekend with partly sunny skies and very isolated showers or weak thunderstorms possible as a trough of low pressure becomes established across the Great Lakes and Northeast.
