Kentucky announced the hiring of D.J. Eliot as its defensive coordinator on Thursday, and the first recruit Eliot visited was Franklin County's Ryan Timmons.

FRANKFORT, Ky. - D.J. Eliot wasted no time getting to work after being named Kentucky's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach on Thursday, making a trip to the state's capital city to visit Franklin County athlete Ryan Timmons.

Flyers' head coach Chris Tracy told ABC 36 that Eliot visited the high school at about 10:30 Thursday morning to sell Timmons on the Wildcats.

Tracy said Timmons is still working on setting up his official visit to UK.

In addition to Kentucky, Timmons has offers from Arkansas, Illinois and Purdue. However, Timmons and Ohio State have mutual interest, but the Buckeyes have yet to offer due to scholarship limitations brought about by NCAA probation.

In his senior season at Franklin County, Timmons amassed over 2,300 yards rushing and receiving with 42 touchdowns. He averaged a TD every 2.4 touches as well as 22 yards per touch.
