After grabbing the lead on Monday, the Gators didn’t let go on Tuesday, outscoring Kentucky blood donors 819 to 654 in the 5
th annual Big Blue Slam.
The Big Blue Nation of Lifesavers is urged to come out and finish the week strong, not only to help defeat Florida but to also boost the community blood supply.
“Recent winter weather and the flu season have taken a toll on the blood supply and right now inventory levels of all blood types are very low. That’s why it’s more important than ever for healthy individuals to make the effort to donate this week,” said Martha Osborne, Kentucky Blood Center’s Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment.
Big Blue Slam donors will receive a Slam T-shirt and a chance to win an entertainment package – 60” Smart TV with Wi-Fi, 3D Blue-ray entertainment center and PlayStation 3.
Kentucky won the blood battle last year and leads the rivalry 3 to 1.
