Mark Stitz joined the ABC 36 Storm Team in December 2012. You can catch his weather forecasts Saturday and Sunday nights on ABC 36 News at 6:30 and 11. During the week, Mark can be found around the Bluegrass reporting.
Mark started his weather career in San Angelo, Texas. After a short stint on weekends, he spent more than 3 years as the weekday morning meteorologist. Mark witnessed one of the state’s worst droughts on record along with a summer of record-breaking heat. During the drought, any chance of rain was always the talk of the town.
While in Texas, Mark earned the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society. The AMS grants the CBM designation to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.
Mark earned his meteorology degree from The Ohio State University. Choosing Ohio State for college wasn’t difficult for him after being born and raised a Buckeye in Canton, Ohio.
