Kristina Belcher joined the ABC 36 news team in July 2012 as a Multi-Media Reporter. You can see her reporting on Good Morning Kentucky and occasionally on WTVQ’s other newscasts.
Kristina was born and raised in the Bluegrass. She grew up in Frankfort, KY and now resides in Lexington with her new husband. Her interest in journalism began early through classes at Franklin County High School and various internship opportunities at Frankfort’s local newspaper.
Kristina graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in journalism and a minor in communications. While in college, Kristina worked as a reporter, anchor and producer with UK Student News Network. She also spent time reporting for WRFL and WUKY radio stations, and worked as PR Coordinator for the Kentucky Kernel.
After graduation, Kristina worked as an associate producer in television news. It didn’t take long for her to realize she belonged in the field, gathering and reporting information for the community. She is so excited to get that opportunity with ABC 36.
Aside from journalism, Kristina has always been passionate about dance. Most recently, she was a member of the Lexington Legends Dance Team. She also works as an instructor at Capital City Dance Studio in Frankfort. Kristina would love to hear from viewers, she can be reached at kbelcher@wtvq.com
