Woodford County won its first ever region baseball title 19-5 over Bryan Station in the 11th region finals Wednesday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Woodford County won its first ever region baseball championship and earned a berth in next week's state tournament. The Yellow Jackets took advantage of a multitude of Bryan Station errors to beat the Defenders 19-5 in six innings to claim the 11th region tournament title at Tates Creek Wednesday.

Bryan Station had a 3-1 lead going into the fifth inning, but then came unraveled. Woodford County scored eight runs on seven Station errors in the top of the fifth, then added ten more runs in the sixth to end the game.

Woodford County will meet 14th region champ Powell County in the opening round of the state tournament Monday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
