Bullitt East star Derek Willis picks Kentucky.
The commitment is the first in the 2013 class for the Cats. Willis said his decision came down to UK and Purdue. He will attend the Cats' game vs. Alabama on Saturday.
Willis ranks in the top 30 nationally via the various recruiting services.
As a sophomore, he shot roughly 40 percent from three-point range and averaged 13.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots to help Bullitt East reach the Sweet Sixteen semifinals. At Rupp, he had 26 points, 31 rebounds and 17 blocked shots in three games.
This season, he's been a bigger post presence, but the averages are still there: 17 points, 37 percent from range, 11 rebounds and six blocks for the Chargers. He had a triple-double (16 points, 13 rebounds, 11 swats) in a win over Jeffersontown.
