The Belmont Stakes is all that stands in the way of California Chrome and horse racing immortality.
The catch of course is that the Belmont is 1 1/2 miles.
That makes it the longest race many of these horses in Saturday's field will ever run.
And it's run on what is known in the industry as "The Big Sandy." The track is a deep, sandy mixture also unlike the previous two legs of the Triple Crown.
To top it all off, it could be even worse if the rain forecast for this weekend actually shows up.
But how would that rain affect Chrome and his connections?
Assistant trainer Alan Sherman on that in the video.
