Former Xavier standout Dez Wells is visiting Kentucky and Evan Daniels of Fox Sports compares Wells to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Former Xavier standout Dez Wells is visiting Kentucky and could play for the Wildcats this season.
Wednesday morning, Kentucky did not appear to be in the picture for Wells. Reports indicated Louisville was likely to land Wells. According to Evan Daniels of Fox Sports, the Cardinals could not find an open scholarship for Wells.
By Wednesday afternoon, Wells was on UK's campus. According to Daniels, he will next visit Memphis and Maryland.
Wells was expelled from Xavier on August 3 following allegations of rape. Tuesday, a grand jury in Cincinnati failed to indict Wells on sexual abuse charges due to insufficient evidence.
Wells averaged 9.8 points in 26 minutes a game last season as a freshman for the Musketeers.
Wells attended the same high school as former Wildcat John Wall, and according to Daniels, the two are good friends.
In order to be eligible to play this season, Wells would have to win an appeal to the NCAA.
Daniels said that Wells would be worth a roster spot regardless of if he plays this season or has to sit out a year. The Fox Sports recruiting analyst compares Wells to former Wildcat and recent No. 2 NBA Draft pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
