CINCINNATI, Oh. - The Reds have announced that star first baseman Joey Votto has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee and will have arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday, which will sideline the All-Star 3-4 weeks.
According to a release from the organization, Votto said, “It is in my best interest and in the best interest of the team to do it now so that I can be healthy during the last two months of the pennant race.”
Votto suffered the injury sliding into third base in the fifth inning on June 29 at San Francisco.
