Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips says the front line shouldn't shoulder the blame for the poor defensive performance against Louisville.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Joker Phillips referred to Kentucky's defensive line as the "backbone of the team" prior to the start of fall camp. It appeared UK had its back broken in the 32-14 loss to Louisville Sunday.
However, Phillips said that the D-line did not play as badly as what may be believed. "They didn't play bad," Phillips said following practice on Tuesday.
Phillips pointed to the play of the Wildcats' linebackers - not being gap sound nor calling the proper formations to combat Louisville's offensive looks.
