Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky improves to 12-2, 1-0 SEC, while Florida falls to 10-4, 0-1 SEC.
  • Kentucky is now 22-22 against Florida all-time, and 9-10 when the game is played in Gainesville.
    • UK head coach Matthew Mitchell is now 4-2 against the Gators, and 4-1 against Florida as Kentucky’s head coach.
    • Kentucky now has a three-game winning streak against Florida.
  • Coach Matthew Mitchell is now 128-80 overall and 98-51 at UK.
  • Kentucky is now 640-466 in 38 years of varsity play.
    • The Wildcats are 133-213 all-time in SEC play, and 36-25 under the direction of Mitchell.
    • Kentucky is 13-18 all-time in conference openers.

First Half Notes

  • Kentucky used the starting lineup of Amber Smith, A’dia Mathies, Bria Goss, Kastine Evans and Samarie Walker for the first time this season. This was the sixth different starting lineup this season.

Second Half Notes

  • Kentucky never trailed in the second half.
  • Kentucky had its biggest lead at the 1:55 mark when senior guard Amber Smith hit a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to give Kentucky a 55-47 lead.
  • The Wildcats were a perfect 2-2 from beyond the arc in the second half.
  • With the game on the line in the final minute, Kentucky went 4-6 at the free-throw line to seal the victory.

·         Freshman guard Bria Goss scored a career-high 11 first-half points and finished with 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.

    • Goss has reached double figures in scoring in 12 of 14 games this season, including six in a row.
  • Sophomore forward Samarie Walker had eight points and seven rebounds.
    • Walker is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game in her four games played.
  • Senior guard Amber Smith scored all seven of her points in the final 1:55, including going 4-of-6 at the free-throw line in the final minute.
    • Smith’s two assists give her 386 career assists, and pushes her to within 14 of Rita Adams at No. 6 on the all-time assists list.
  • Sophomore guard Kastine Evans finished with four points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals.
  • Freshman forward/center Azia Bishop grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in 12 minutes of action. Bishop also had a team-high two blocks.
